Telephone Reassurance
Troy Police Department

Database Systems Corp. (DSC) is a leading provider of call center technology including call reassurance phone systems and service. DSC provides services and systems that automatically call households checking on residents to ensure they are OK. This service allows citizens to remain in their homes later in their lives (Aging In Place). CARE can re-dial the number several times and if there is no response, a message can be provided to family members or a monitoring center informing them that a resident is not responding to this call.

Additional Information

Our Mission:

"... is to protect the citizens of Troy and their guests from unlawful actions against them to the best of our ability. To enforce the laws of the State of Illinois and the City of Troy in a fair and equal manner without prejudice or malice. To serve the people of Troy in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner, and to act as a conservator of the public peace."

The Project:

"The Troy Police Department is hoping to find funding to finance “Call-Reassurance” equipment that will make phone calls on a daily basis to subscribers (senior citizens and latch key kids) at pre-determined times ensuring the well being and safety of our most vulnerable citizens. Our first responders are alerted and respond to check the welfare if our subscriber does not answer their call. The basic model costs $7,500 and our Police Explorer Youth program is in the process of initiating a fund raiser to help. This project has the potential of benefiting roughly 38% of our population. The City of Troy has a population of just over 9,100. Demographically, 30.2% of our population is under the age of 18, and 7.7% is age 65 or older (U.S. Census Bureau)."
